Warehouse space in bristol see car dealers celebrate run-up to ’62’ plates

Six well-known car dealerships held celebration parties last night in the run-up to the “62″ registration plates which will be issued on new vehicles from September 1.

The parties at Wessex Garages which runs dealerships in Bristol, the south west and Wales, included a competition to win up to £8,000 towards a new car.

One of the dealerships is Wessex Pennywell in Easton which specialises in Nissan cars. Another is in Feeder Road which sells Kia, Alfa Romeo and Abarth cars.

A raffle was held to raise funds for the Make A Wish charity which makes dreams come true for young people fighting life-threatening conditions.

Wessex Garages’ managing director Keith Brock took part in a 10k run earlier this year and a half-marathon last year to raise money for the charity.

The 47-year-old MD said there were many charities which did worthy work for people in need but the Make A Wish charity was very special for young people.

The charity also chimed with Wessex Garages because both celebrated their 25th anniversary last year.

Mr Brock explained why winning the Customer Service Award in this year’s Post business awards was so important to the company.

He said: “We started on a project three years ago to improve customer satisfaction, which has resulted in a cultural change among our 200 staff.

“To win the award after such hard work by everyone and with such great results was the icing on the cake for us.”

Wessex Garages has dealerships in Gloucester, two in Bristol, two in Cardiff and one in Newport.

Mr Brock said: “The purpose of the parties was not a hard sell but simply a thank you to all ourcustomers for their past business.”
