Multimodel distribrution premises watches as Bristol looks to Severnside for industrial sites

The recent enquiry into Bristol’s Local Development Framework highlighted the available land at Severnside and Avonmouth as the likely solution to the city’s future industrial and distribution requirements. Our multimodal distribution premises has noted this move.

According to Russell Crofts of property experts Knight Frank, who represented the Industrial Agents’ Society at the enquiry, available land for industrial development within Bristol is woefully inadequate for requirements.

“At the Industrial Agents Society we forecast that 77 hectares of land in Bristol would need to be found by 2026 to meet the demand.  Bristol City Council itself suggested that 24.5 hectares would be required.  Yet the enquiry – held with an Inspector appointed by the Government – came to the conclusion that just 10 hectares within the Bristol boundary could be found for future industrial development.

“That means that most of those looking to create industrial, distribution and warehousing jobs in the area will head for sites in Severnside and Avonmouth, such as Central Park.”

Central Park is a 640 acre warehouse and distribution park at Severnside, capable of accommodating units of over 1m sq ft.  The infrasturcture for a first phase of 85 acres has been completed, with a new road under constructuon which will open up a further 200 acres for warehouse development.
