Manufacturing premises to benefit from being part of creative city

Bristol has won a share of a £16-million investment to bolster creative industries in the city, not only attracting further investment but also proving Bristol’s standing as one of the main cities in England and making the city an even more desirable place to be situated in and associated with.

The University of the West of England has been chosen to lead one of four centres that will bring together artists, technicians and academics to research and develop innovative projects. It has won the funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council to set up what is known as a Knowledge Exchange Hub for the Creative Economy.

The money will be used to boost the creative economy, which includes the creative industries as well as museums, galleries, libraries, orchestras and theaters. UWE deputy vice-chancellor Professor Paul Gough said: “The Hub will generate many brilliant and exciting projects that will have a direct impact on the creative economy, on businesses and education.
