Manufacturing in Bristol given boost by Government investing in aerospace

A multi-billion investment to “anchor” Britain as a global leader in the aerospace industry has been announced by the Deputy Prime Minister during a visit to Airbus in Filton, Bristol.

Nick Clegg revealed on Monday the creation of a new £2 billion UK Aerospace Technology Institute, made up of top manufacturing and engineering firms,  to ensure the country remains at the forefront of technological advances on the world stage. The coalition will contribute £1 billion towards the scheme over the next seven years while companies including Airbus and Rolls Royce, will provide the rest.

The move will help secure thousands   of jobs in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas, which have been leaders in the aviation sector for decades.
