Construction work has begun at Central Park, the warehouse distribution premises to let, for frozen food chain Farmfoods.

The retailer has chosen Central Park for a new 175,000 sq ft temperature controlled distribution centre, which will create a significant number of jobs. The design-and-build freehold project should be finished towards the end of this year, with construction being carried out by Delta Properties’ development partner, Roxhill.

Farmfoods will be the second logistics occupier at our 600-acre park, joining pallet distribution company CHEP UK.

Charles Blake, director at Roxhill, said: “We are delighted to be developing this facility for Farmfoods. Central Park is quickly establishing itself as one of the UK’s premier distribution hubs. Delta Properties has invested heavily in the Park’s infrastructure and, combined with Roxhill’s ability to deliver fast track buildings under a unique B8 planning permission, this puts Central Park at the forefront of the regional market. With a new rail freight terminal becoming operational in the first quarter of 2016, the scheme will soon also have national significance.”

Paul Hobbs, director at property adviser GVA, added: “Timing and certainty is crucial in the provision of new facilities. Central Park ticks all the boxes for distributors looking for an M4/M5 base, even for single facilities up to 1 million sq ft. As the market improves, we know it won’t be long before others join CHEP and Farmfoods at Central Park.”

As construction continues, we will continue to bring you visual updates on the progress being made at this premier distribution hub.
