Distribution premises to let in Bristol look forward as demand for South West warehouse space grows

Warehouses in Bristol could soon be nuclear powered.

Retailers and distributors are hunting for 4m sq ft of warehouse space in the South West as the region prepares to cope with a massive surge in demand, thanks to a nuclear power plant.

EDF Energy’s plans for a nuclear power station at Hinkley Point, Bridgwater, is expected to mean a surge in demand from their supply chain. The plant will take at least ten years to build.

The power station plan is now being considered by the government’s Planning Inspectorate. A six month inquiry began last week.

Russell Crofts, industrial partner at Knight Frank in Bristol, and  chair of the Local Enterprise Partnership Distribution Group, said: “I can identify 4m sq ft of demand across the region but there is an awful lot of land available which means the market is very competitive.”
