Distribution park in Bristol ready for next stage of development
Central Park Bristol, the available to let warehouse and distribution premises, has begun the next phase of infrastructure for the scheme, known as Project Yellow.
The first part of this latest development, scheduled for October 2014, will focus on completing the distribution park’s road infrastructure. This extension will connect the central infrastructure directly to the A406 and from there the M5 and M48. This gives it great access to Cardiff (37 miles), Avonmouth Docks (6 miles) and Bristol Airport (19 miles) among other important UK destinations as 85% of the UK will be within a four and a half hour HGV drive.
Once this comprehensive road network is in place, the next phase of adding a rail freight link can commence, turning Central Park Bristol into one of the most premier multi modal distribution parks in the country. As it stands, the rail link terminal is due in late 2015 and Central Park can also accommodate the development of individual units with their own direct rail links. This will give tenants open access to the rail terminal at Bristol Port, Avonmouth which has sea container handling facilities.
Once this is completed, Central Park will then have filled one of the key missing links in the expanding network of major rail-linked distribution parks as it is located at one of the key intersections between the strategic road and rail networks. Central park will at last provide Bristol and the South West with rail serviced warehousing that is linked to major deepsea ports, the Channel Tunnel and the Regions. In tandem with the major investment by Network Rail to the surrounding rail network, Central Park will deliver a 21st-century rail freight solution and a more sustainable alternative to long distance road haulage.
